We try to raise growthy, thick, and correct structured bulls; the kind we want to use (and are using) in our commercial herd.  We have around 300 commercial cows consisting of about 2/3 black cows bred to our homeraised Hereford bulls.  The other cows are black white face and are bred to Angus bulls.  We raise the calves to yearlings on the farm then retain ownership through the feedlot.

Our birthweights are probably a little above average (as it is hard to get good growth with small birth weights).  We do not have calving problems in mature cows (other than something turned wrong occasionally).  Our birth weights have been fairly stable for the last 20 years.  EPD's are available, but of questionable accuracy in a small herd like ours. We have seen them vary several points from year to year.
